Moluccan Python(Morelia clastolepis)

I keep a couple of species which fall into the scrub python category, the Moluccan being one of them. Most wild caught scrubs are certainly not for the feint hearted and should not be considered pet snakes. Captive bred animals can be a different proposition and have the potential to calm down and become fairly trustworthy.

Scrub pythons are very alert and will frequently observe you, when you are in close proximity to their enclosure.

My animals are still too young to attempt breeding trials and are kept at a uniform 83c, with a basking spot in the high 80s, with high relative humidity.

I suspect the maxmium average size for Moluccans is around 10 feet, although there have been reports of females getting up to 13 feet in length.

I currently work with both normal and the melanistic forms.

Breeding trials will be undertaken again in 2010.
