Ringed Python(Bothrochilus boa)

A small sized python, rarely exceeding six feet in length. Ringeds can sometimes be a rather aggressive snake and you seldom have any problems feeding them!

Bismark's pythons, as they are sometimes known, thrive in a humid vivarium (not wet) and my animals have access to a damp moss box, which they regularly frequent, particularly when they are shedding. An ambient temparature of around 80c, can be complimented by a basking spot in the high 80s.

As babies, they exhibit a striking contrast of orange and black bands, with the orange turning to reddish brown at around one year of age. A freshly shed adult can be highly irridescent and will make a stunning addition to any collection.

I produced my first clutch of eggs in 2008, which were unfortunately, not fertile. Hopefully, having acquired another male last year, I'll have better luck in 2011.
